7 Tips For Beginner Entrepreneurs

When I look back at where we were at this time last year I am blown away by how far we have come, and what amazing things have fallen into place.  My "sage advice" to anyone who is thinking about starting a business:

1.) There is magic in action - Feel the fear, acknowledge it, but take action anyway, and do it now!  That's the only way to unleash the magic.

2.)  Always look for wise counsel even if you just need to bounce ideas off someone.  However, do that brainstorming with someone who has been in your shoes and can encourage you.

3.)  Stay away from naysayers, they will suck the joy out of you.

4.) Surround yourself with people who are where you want to be in life.  There is a saying that you are the sum of the five people who are closest to you.  Take a look around you.  Analyze what those five people speak into your life.  You may need to step out of your comfort zone and attend networking meetings and mixers to find other people who are rising above the naysayers (refer to #3).  If you are an introvert, and those kinds of meetings scare you...(refer to #1).

5.)  Ask for help when you need it - you will be glad you did.  Your SCORE mentor will be able to help you in this area.  Also, you would be surprised at how many people want to see you succeed.  Don't be afraid to ask for help.

6.) No matter what your faith is, read one chapter of Proverbs everyday.  There are 31 chapters, how convenient!  Proverbs will keep you on track.  Trust me when I say that you will find helpful business nuggets in Proverbs throughout the month.  I refer to Proverbs all the time.

7.)  Just keep moving forward - take that next step (refer to #1).  Even if you are praying for a miracle, you have to give Him something to work with.  It's like the Universe is saying, "Just meet Me half way and I'll take care of the rest."  Take that step!  Ask yourself, "What can I do today that will get me one step closer to my goal?"  Then do that!

It is up to you to create the life you want.
